Champagne at its finest

Kim_cover_web_2 Like a virus, the image has been spreading across the Internat and social media throughout the past weeks - Kim Kardashian West's cover spread with Paper Magazine's latest issue: Break the Internet. If you haven't already read the article, or seen the images, you are in for a shock. Photographer, Jean-Paul Goude, known for this iconic champagne shot, teamed up with Kim to recreate and modernise the 1976 photograph of model Carolina Burmont.

Although the images for this spread are highly discussed, one cannot argue the success and "photoshop" beauty of Kim Kardashian. If you look past the images and read between them, one might argue that the words themselves speak the truth about Kim Kardashian West -

A feminist-entrepreneur-pop-culture-icon or a late-stage symptom of our society's myriad ills: narcissism, opportunism, unbridled ambition, unchecked capitalism. But behind all the hoopla, there is an actual woman -- a physical body where the forces of fame and wealth converge.

Or is it so that those words about Kim don't matter when they are paired with photos like these? What do you think about Kim Kardashian's oiled and naked backside for in this controversial spread? What is it saying about our pop culture and women today - is it saying anything at all?

As an independent music production company we love supporting and giving voice to all artists - big and small, all genres - from edm to classical. But what happens when the beats us producers create drown out the message of a song? Are we listening to the words, or just dancing along to the sound?

Today, we came across a video that has been spreading throughout social media. Poet and lyricist, Madiha Bhatti, speaks out about the objectifying and controversial lyrics of contemporary music. She pinpoints and criticizes many of the common themes in today's pop culture, themes that men and women alike have gone numb to. You don't have to agree to listen to this honest message, but I promise you that it will catch your attention.
