Limelight

So what really makes someone famous? And who determines what fame is...? Those are some recent thoughts that have me pondering lately. All the while, I watch the StreetRacer producers work harder than ever: produce and create great content, make connections and reach out to the people, to you guys. But what really is it that decides who makes it and who doesn't?

Living and working in the heart of New York, you end up seeing famous people quite often. The hysteria surrounding celebrities is quite remarkable. I can't help but question if fame = talent? Or if it's all just a facade.. Well, there has to be some talent in there, but maybe with a larger scoop of luck?  I'm curious to hear what you think about fame. Share your thoughts!

Late Nights

A while back we featured rapper Damian Johnson on the blog with his mixtape, "Conscious for Currency". Today he is back with yet another hot mixtape, "Late Nights", which will be released January 31st on Datpiff.com, available for you to listen to and download for free! But let me first and foremost introduce you to the great Damian Johnson...

Could you tell us a little bit about your vision behind this upcoming mixtape?

" I wanted to open up a world where you can listen to music and take what you want from it. It’s a perfect blend of my inner thoughts and my secret fantasies. "

How would you describe the sound of your mixtape?

" I would consider it a fun hip-hop/ party sound. I love to challenge the mind and keep it working but at the same time make good music.  "

Where do you get most of your inspiration from?

" My mother has to be my biggest supporter. From advertising songs to coming to shows. She keeps me moving forward. "

What is your earliest music memory? Do you remember when you started rapping?

" It’s funny because I first started rapping when I was in the 6th grade and my friends would always tell me to shut up. It was one of the only things that I was passionate about. I got better and started making music that they even move to now. "

You've worked with Streetracers a bunch of times, how would you describe your experience collaborating with the producers?

" You can never have too much Streetracer! The best Production team I have ever worked with. They create new sounds that constantly keep you on your toes as an artist. I look forward to more collabs. "

What are your future goals?

" To create a brand of music that the world will recognize and keep making positive moves in life. At the end of the day, I want to read over my life’s story and be proud of each chapter. "
