The 6th annual OVO fest

ovo-fest-2015-01

Claiming it was one of the biggest moments of his career, Drake turned last night's OVO Fest into a memorable one, to say the least: announcing Kanye West as one of his idols, dropping lines on Meek Mill, sharing the stage with Travis Scott (who stated he'd broken out of jail to make it there on time) and music connoisseur Pharrell. All in one night - perhaps what most artists try to squeeze into a year.

We can't wait to see what's up next in the career of this Toronto native sensation. And, with his newest recruitment, Roy Wood$, blasting on a Tuesday afternoon, all we can say is: keep it coming.

Who needs clothes

By no means am I a fashion connoisseur or a fashion guru. I appreciate what I feel is good taste in clothes and love to see fun, new, and creative ideas when it comes to fashion. In my opinion its really all about the person and what clothes they make look good, not the other way around. On the other side someone who does have an eye for fashion and style is Olivia Do who started her own company, "Ardour" with best friend Suzie Chudzik.

Founders and best friends, Olivia Do and Suzie Chudzik launched Ardour while conquering the business world in 2013. What started out as daily chats of needing something more than the 9-5 grind, eventually turned into an entrepreneurial journey. Ardour is a unique online fashion boutique delivering good vibes through a bohemian electric style. Music, art, culture and each adventure we encounter drives our inspiration day and night. Our ambition derives from a strong desire to live a life we love, as well as instill this desire for change within each of you. Ultimately, we're here to deliver the wildly ambitious styles we live for!

Sell Yourself

No one has the secret sauce to success when it comes to making it big in the entertainment business. The only thing we can do is work hard and hope that a sprinkle of good luck, or for some, FAITH, hits. Often times you see millions of people pouring their mind, body, soul, and most of all MONEY, into their art with nothing in return. New York City, California, Miami, or Atlanta just to name a few, you can find people all over trying to make their dreams come true, but see very little success. Yes, this can be discouraging, although at the same time it lets us know that hard work pays off. The people at the "top" have worked hard for what they believed in and put in countless hours into their craft. Of course we all know this, but what we also need to know is that there are thousands of ways to make money on this long and hard journey to success through outlets such as social media, networking events, and other social gatherings. Chances are if you are good at what you do and someone else can benefit from your craft, then they will pay. In the end, as creatives and innovators, we need to sell more of ourselves, more more more. That's what the people want. We are not selling music, art, dance, nor acting skills, or fashion. No, not at all, what we are selling is ourselves, and if people like you alongside with your art or product then they will buy what you have!

So what really makes someone famous? And who determines what fame is...? Those are some recent thoughts that have me pondering lately. All the while, I watch the StreetRacer producers work harder than ever: produce and create great content, make connections and reach out to the people, to you guys. But what really is it that decides who makes it and who doesn't?

Living and working in the heart of New York, you end up seeing famous people quite often. The hysteria surrounding celebrities is quite remarkable. I can't help but question if fame = talent? Or if it's all just a facade.. Well, there has to be some talent in there, but maybe with a larger scoop of luck?  I'm curious to hear what you think about fame. Share your thoughts!

A few months ago I introduced you to a new StreetRacer artist by the name of Tijon. Today he is back on our blog with more innovative, captivating and unique music. The latest project and upcoming album, Rats, is taking us on a journey through a series of party scenes traveling from generation to generation. So far they've shot scenes mimicking a 90's grunge party at Kurt Cobain's house, and a house party at Jimi Hendrix place in 1969. With more scenes in the making, we couldn't be more excited for this visual time machine to blow us away!

Stay tuned for Rats, and the first single "Party With The Killers" coming out in 2014.

The Journey

the journey Our StreetRacer producers have evolved and their skills improved significantly since you last heard their beats on this blog. So let's take a listen to what's new! Today I want to share with you one of my recent favorites, it's titled The Journey, and makes me feel like I'm walking along a desolate road in the middle of a beautiful landscape. The road ahead has many diverging paths, yet I'm not sure which one to take. This beat reminds us that it's all about that journey, the journey that is long and hard, but nonetheless an adventure. Savour it. What is your journey?

Remarkable Isa

We absolutely love the combination of music and modern art. Have you ever heard of Isa Genzken? Most people probably haven't, but listen up, because this German artist is one of very few females to have her first retrospective at the MoMa in New York. She explores elements of audio using photography and sculpture in a way I've never seen before. As I did my research on Isa, I learnt that she is not your ordinary sculptor...her fascination with New York's architecture has transcended into multiple works of urban, expressive, and quite explosive bodies of art. We absolutely love her raw style, making all of us question what "good" taste in the vast world of the arts actually is. What do you think good taste is? And how do you feel about her portrayal and interpretation of New York City?

You don't find too many producers push the envelope but right now StreetRacer Productions not only pushed the envelope but sealed and it and sent it off to the masses to read!
